Sustainability - Led from the Top

In late 2010, the Siemsen Group implemented a new way of doing business. We adopted the emerging management notion of “quadruple bottom line” management.
Quadruple bottom line management practice incorporates Elkington's ‘triple bottom line’ notion of traditional financial, social and environmental reporting and now incorporates corporate governance and cultural sustainability.
The Siemsen Group has engaged one of Australia’s most recognised and respected corporate advisory firms to assist us in developing and implementing this key strategy.
Executed to date:
October 2010
1. We implemented corporate governance - with board of management and directors with formal monthly meetings
2. We implemented a cultural sustainability program – included were behavioural, cultural, capability alignment measures and reporting
January 2011
3. We implemented new financial governance – six month strategic review led to new financial governance structures being implemented in line with board reporting and technology implementation
July 2011
4. We commenced development of a social responsibility framework – reporting is being development in conjunction with our consulting partners and will be ready for release in December 2011
5. We commenced an environmental management review. The Siemsen Group, its CEO and its entire executive management team of;
- Operations
- Finance
- People & Culture
- Innovation and Technology
- Brand Value and Marketing
- Chief Executive
all lead every one of these key initiatives. All are acutely aware of the positive sustainable impact the successful execution of the projects will have on society, the environment as well as our company and partners.
Supplier Management and TradesWanted.com.au
In May 2011 the Siemsen Group, together with its technology partner Intelligent Thought, launched a significant new technology platform to manage trade and supplier partner’s workflow activities.
The core functionality of this first phase released in May centred around workflow and ensuring core Service Level Agreement compliance.
The second phase of development for our trade and supply partner business applications focuses on building a category supply chain community. Managed by Siemsen Group’s Executive Manager for Procurement & Supply Chain Management, the trade and supply partners community will be connected to facilitate bulk purchase spend discount deals.
One of the key procurement requirements for both potential trade and supply partners, is to demonstrate and/or prove their own commitment to environmental and sustainable business practices.
Additionally, we are creating supply partnership networks with environmentally conscious material and equipment companies who align with our environmental and social initiatives.
